Spotify is plenty fine if I want to do that. I’m not overly bothered by album based listening. Apple’s previous browser apps also leave a lot to be desired however. I find the beta browser app pretty unusable, although maybe time will change that. I’ve got a pretty beasty laptop (I’m a developer) and iTunes will just grind to a halt once I’ve got Visual Studio and a few other tools open. From looking around, it seems a pretty common problem, and Apple won’t/can’t fix it.Īt work I use Windows, and the Apple Music experience there is subpar at best. It’s happened since day one, but it had reached the stage of happening enough to really piss me off. I’ve had it happen more times than I can count. I like that Apple doesn’t have to make a profit from AM itself thus they don’t have to leverage things like user data to stay afloat. Like I said, it’s nothing illegal, but I just don’t like that business model. Spotify is turning into a data business, and is using their personalized playlists and wrap-ups to advertise to businesses that they know their users because they want to be a platform for ads themselves, like Google - but where Google knows the user via search and browsing habits, Spotify is trying to show they know them just as well via their listening habits (and remember, podcasts still have ads). Miss some things like app responsiveness and a reliable web player (almost there), but there are two additional aspects I value that aren’t on the list (all of which I agree with btw): the eco-system integration and privacy.Įco system is self-explainable and pure preference, but there are privacy concerns that are being overlooked with Spotify (nothing illegal, but things I don’t think their customers understand). If you already know what you want to listen to, and don't really care much about Music discovery, and want to build a library Apple is for youįor now I'm gonna stick with Apple till it gets to know me and then make my final decision on which app I'll finally stick with.

Apple should let us chose our artists again after the first time as music taste changes over a period of time. ITunes integration - This is a fantastic feature which lets me upload my local files to Appleīeats1 Radio - This is my favourite feature of AM, i absolutely love the shows like DanceXL and New Music Dailyīetter library management - Creating a music library is a delight on Apple I still haven't received Chill Mix and New Releases Mix on Apple so i cannot compare them as of now. Personal playlists on point - Release Radar and Daily Mix is always on point. Spotify nails it, and this is one of the tools I've been using for the last 3 years to discover new music.Įasier to Navigate - The interface is simple and to the point. If i want to listen to a similar song after the current song ends, i have to start a song radio on Apple, and in my experience it's pretty random. Not saying Apple has a bad algorithm, but it takes Apple a longer time to figure your taste based on your likes and dislikes, and they're only 75% accurate.Īutoplay - This is one feature i really wish Apple had. It knows EXACTLY what i want to listen to. Superior Algorithm - There's just something magical about Spotify's algorithm. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and while it's not perfect, it's a pretty good service. However, the recent interface changes really pissed me off and I've decided to give Apple Music a go. Since i had been on the service for so long, it's safe to say Spotify knows my music taste REALLY well.
